Milan’s MalpensaFiere Convention Centre became the focal point of the European Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME scene last weekend, as more than 900 players from all over Italy and several other countries competed in Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH’s second Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series (YCS).

After 14 rounds of grueling competition spread over two days, Matthew sat down for his final match against Noel Garde from France. Collins showed deep insight into the game by bringing his own version of the Plant Synchro Deck to the event, and overcame Garde’s Anti-Meta deck.

A crowd of spectators and friends of both Duelists cheered on the finalists through the tense match, closely following their every move. In the end, Matthew emerged victorious after playing “Spore” and Summoning Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier, and became the YCS Milan Winner.

Collins’ title comes with a tremendous prize package that includes a set of Ultra Rare YCS Prize Cards, an exclusive YCS gamemat, a netbook computer, a paid trip to 2011 World Championship Qualifier: European Championship, and more! Garde takes home a 32gb iPad and a set of Super Rare YCS Prize Cards.

Apart from the main Championship tournament, visitors could play in a multitude of other events, ranging from casual to competitive. Those Public events offered attractive prizes, the most prominent being unique oversized Yu-Gi-Oh! cards of more than 1m height, and assorted exclusive gamemats. On Sunday, Anthony Hakikan (France) and Nuno Ribeiro (Portugal) earned themselves a paid trip to one of the YCS events coming to Europe in 2011.
