We're nearing the end of another year of Yu-Gi-Oh!, one that has been quite eventful with new cards, Decks and so-on making a big impact on Duelists. I plan on doing a set of mini articles to round out the year, but I need some input from you all to help me out first.
YCS Brighton is the last major event of the year, and once that's over I want to finish off 2011 by counting down the 10 best cards released this year. While I have my own opinions on what cards made the biggest impact on the game since their release I'm sure all of you have your own thoughts on what the best cards of 2011 are as well, so I'd like to know what you think.
How to get involved.
- Post a comment below this blog post.
- List out the 10 best cards released in 2011.
- Post reasons if you want, but it's not necessary.
Also, here's a few things to help you out:
- Any card which made its TCG debut this year is eligible.
- Reprints don't count.
- Prize cards can be nominated.
- JUMP and other promo cards can be nominated.
- "Best" doesn't always mean "most powerful", it could also be a card that helps out one specific Deck by giving it the boost it needed.
- Judge each card on its stats/effect alone, ignore rarities.
Here's a list of products that contained new cards in 2011:
- Storm of Ragnarok
- Extreme Victory
- Generation Force
- Photon Shockwave
- Structure Deck: Dragunity Legion
- Structure Deck: Lost Sanctuary
- Structure Deck: Gates of the Underworld
- Starter Deck: Dawn of the Xyz
- Duelist Pack: Yusei 3
- Duelist Pack: Crow
- YCS Prize Card
- WCQ Prize Cards
- SHONEN JUMP promotional Cards (from #48 onwards)
- World Championship promo cards.
- Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D: Bonds Beyond Time movie pack
- Legendary Collection 2: The Duel Academy Years (LC02 cards only)
- Hidden Arsenal 4
- Hidden Arsenal 5

As much as some people like to think so, I don't work directly "at" Konami. I'm a freelance writer that works with them on the coverage and strategy sites. I don't decide (or know) anything regarding upcoming products :)
This is exactly what I said it was in the initial blog post, me getting input from the YGO community on what the best cards of this year were. Now maybe "the powers that be" are reading this blog and your replies too, (in which case that's awesome, and hello there!) but mainly this is just a little idea I had for a set of mini articles to put together over the holidays.

I was merely speculating the thought, no need to stretch a little comment more than was said. ;)

7.- Leviair the Sea Dragon
8.- Effect Veiler
9.- Thunder King Rai-Oh
10,- Trap Dustshoot
1. Tour Guide of the Underworld
2. Reborn Tengu
3. T.G. Hyper Librarian
4. Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En
5. Master Hyperion
6. T.G. Warwolf
7. Leviair the Sea Dragon

8. Legendary Six Samurai Shi En
9. Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World

I feel there's something wrong when 4 out of the top 5 are TCG Exclusives, and Dolkka just missed out on my top 10.
this is based on ocg + tcg and on the latest format.
i know your list didnt contain orcs, but what the heck.
tour guide
tengu
max c
insecter damsel
insecter hornet
hyperion
grapha
gachi gantetsu
rabbit
lagia
royal tribute
tour guide
tengu
rabbit
shi En
dustshoot
bls
formula synchron
t.g. hyper librarian
grapha
am I the only one who remembers wrecking decks with Royal Tribute? sigh~
Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World
Master Hyperion
Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En
Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning
Rescue Rabbit
Tour Guide from the Underworld
Reborn Tengu
Effect Veiler
Maxx "C"
Karakuri Komachi mdl 224 "Ninishi"
No particular order, just the "top ten" that I think were the best this year, at least TCG wise. Since I doubt this includes OCG, and if it does then Wind-Up Rat and Wind-Up Zenmaighty definitely deserve to be on the list.
I am avoiding horribly broken cards that ruined the meta (Tour Guide) or very expensive cards (Tour Guide, Trishula)
1. Prior of the Ice Barrier
2. Dragon Ravine
3. Meklord Emperor Granel
4. Master Hyperion
5. Call Resonator (It's a Smoke Signal for an underplayed Archetype and just a Rare!)
6. Sea Lancer
7. Naturia Maron
8. Wattcobra
9. Metaion the Time Lord
10. Leviathan Dragon
1) Tour Guide from the Underworld - It's obviously the card that has changed the whole metagame..
2) Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En - Even if Six Samurai is no longer so popular, Shi En made it a dominant deck for 2 whole formats..
3) Reborn Tengu - Another splashable TCG Exclusive that has improved many decks, including the top tier Plants.
4) Maxx "C" - A card found in almost every deck nowadays, because of its ability to let you draw lots of cards or because it can stop your opponent from making big plays.
5) Rescue Rabbit - Made a brand new top tier deck. Not to mention that it can be teched in many decks, possibly making them better/faster/more aggressive/or so (eg. X-Sabers)
6) Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World - Grapha is why Dark World decks have gotten back from the dead.
7) Master Hyperion - It made Agent Decks top tier.
8) Leviair the Sea Dragon - One of the most important Xyz monsters that can be used in practically every deck, making it way better.
9) Karakuri Komachi mdl 224 "Ninishi" - Reason why Karakuri Decks became more successful and topped major tournaments.
10) Dragon Ravine - The reason why Dragunity Decks are kinda good, and also a card that can be used in the old, good, Dragon Decks (eg. Disaster Dragon)
These are my picks.
BEST of 2011
1.- Tour Guide from the Underworld
2.- Rescue Rabbit
3.- Legendary Six Samurai - Shi en
4.- Reborn Tengu
5.- Maxx 'C'
6.- Master Hyperion
7.- Leviair the Sea Dragon
8.- Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World
9.- T.G. Hyper Lybrarian
10.- Wind-Up Zenmaines
These are my picks.
