The Irish Duelist is taking a break (from blogging).



Hey everyone. As I'm sure you're all aware, the blog's not been updated as frequently as it had been in the past; I've got other priorities besides The Irish Duelist right now so the posting of new content has to take a back seat. With that in mind, I feel it's only fair to let you all know I won't be updating the blog for a while.

YCS Toronto kicks off the new Advanced Format this weekend.



YCS Toronto is the first major event of the new format and Konami have issued a press release with all the basic information on the event.

TCG Forbidden & Limited Lists now posted.



Following the release of the OCG list last week, Konami have updated the TCG lists which will be effective from September 1st onwards.

September 2012 Forbidden & Limited Card List (OCG)



As is always the tradition in February/August, the Forbidden & Limited Card List gets updated. Generally we see the list announced in the OCG (via V-JUMP Magazine) before it's posted on yugioh-card.com (OCG). Images of the "new list" have spread across the Internet since yesterday evening and the list is posted below.

2012 World Championship Videos



The 2012 Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship took place in Tokyo last weekend and was historic for a number of reasons. It was the 10th hosting of the event, but also the first time that Yu-Gi-Oh! had provided live streaming of their matches. Some of the matches were recorded and are embedded below.

It's World Championship Weekend!



Every August the world's greatest Duelists converge to compete in the tournament to end all tournaments, and become immortalised in Dueling history as a Yu-Gi-Oh! World Champion. That time has come again and less than a day from now the chosen few will be battling it out in Tokyo for the ultimate honour.

Konami have updated their Top 1000 COSSY Duelist rankings and those who are within that group of players get themselves a free set of exclusive card sleeves.

2012's Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship roster.



Duelists are now getting one step closer to this year's World Championship, with the WCQ events now underway. The winners of these events (and in some cases, finalists) will represent their regions in the 10th Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship, to be held in Tokyo in August. Here's the list of people who've already earned their invites.

[Update: July 17] The list is now complete, many thanks to all of you who have helped out with compiling the data, you've all done a terrific job.

Galileo de Obaldia on Dino Rabbit, the F&L list, and more..



Some of you may remember Galileo de Obaldia (or "Galy") as the 2010 World Champion, who won with Frog FTK, or from his third place at Worlds last year in Amsterdam. He's also a 3 time National Champion, and somebody I've known to have quite solid opinions on the game and Deckbuilding in general. Here's a video of him being interviewed by Simon He, who's had some success of his own recently as well, topping many YCS events.

YCS Sheffield will be a Sealed Event



Konami have posted some information about the upcoming YCS to be held in Sheffield (UK) in September. The event will be a world first for the game.

A press release was given out to all Yu-Gi-Oh!-related media sites yesterday detailing the newest Hidden Arsenal booster set, which will be available in July.

Thomond Park to host Conclave 2012



Conclave is Limerick's annual gaming convention, featuring everything from Yu-Gi-Oh! and Magic to tabletop gaming like Warhammer 40k. After numerous successful events held at the Carlton near Castletroy, Conclave now moves to Limerick's premier event venue, Thomond Park, home of Munster Rugby.

2012 Irish National Championship: Top 8 Decklists



Ireland had its National Championship this past weekend where close to 90 Duelists competed to represent the country in the European Championship in July. After 7 rounds of action the initial field of 89 was cut down to a final 8, and here are the Decks that took them there.

Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM officially launches.



The beta period for Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM closed yesterday, and the developers promptly made the final initial changes to the game and launched it to the general public.

Gold Series: Haunted Mine



Here's some info about this year's Gold Series, which contains a new type of rarity, among other highlights.

Title update and more beta keys for Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM



It looks like Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM has hit the ground running. Following a successful launch of their open beta and detailed feedback from the community, a title update was released for the game last night, along with 5000 more beta keys for those who've yet to try the game out.

Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM



Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM is the first ever official Yu-Gi-Oh! game to be launched on Facebook, and it's currently in open beta testing. If you want to try it out and give the developers some feedback you better hurry, there's only 500 or so spots left.

(Spoiler) Battle Pack: Epic Dawn



Battle Pack: Epic Dawn is a new booster set that completely changes the way we look at Yu-Gi-Oh!, for it's the first pack in the history of the game to be specifically designed for Sealed Play. It made its debut at YCS Philadelphia this past weekend and Konami published the full spoiler on their official Strategy Site, take a look.

Hazam Games takes over Yu-Gi-Oh! UK/Irish Organised Play



Hazam Games have announced that they're the official Organised Play distributor for the UK and Ireland, taking over from Gamerz Events who were running it since 2009.

Ireland gets its own National Championship again!



If you're a fellow Irish Duelist and somewhat experienced with the history of the game in the country, you'll know that in recent times we've had to travel to the UK to compete in a shared National Championship. Well that's about to change!
