Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM | The Irish Duelist

Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM

Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM is the first ever official Yu-Gi-Oh! game to be launched on Facebook, and it's currently in open beta testing. If you want to try it out and give the developers some feedback you better hurry, there's only 500 or so spots left.

The game is essentially a stripped-down, fast-paced version of the Trading Card Game, with a story mode that sees you progress from region to region, competing against AI players etc., much like the older Nintendo games. You have 3 Monster Card Zones and 3 Spell Card Zones (for simplification reasons Traps are also considered to be Spells in this game) that you can fill up with your 15 card Deck. Everything is settled on the field, which means there's no Synchro/Xyz Summoning, Deck searching or Monster Reborn plays, but once you get into the action you'll realise the game's all the better for it. Basically, Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM is all about battling with your monsters. The tutorial below takes you through some of the basics:

The game then develops a bit further and you end up with Effect Monsters that can do various things from boosting their ATK and reducing opposing monsters' ATK, Life Point gain/burn, destruction effects etc.. Naturally, you can build your own Deck and buy and sell cards in the in-game shop. You can also Duel against your friends' Decks (controlled by AI) to see what they've built to tackle the Story Mode.

Naturally, as this is a pre-release beta there's a few bugs and glitches, but for the most part the game's fully-functional. At the moment the beta's limited to 5000 players, and around 4500 of those spots have been taken up as I write this, so you'll probably only have the rest of today to get in. If you do though, feel free to spend some time with the game and give the developers some solid feedback, so that the full release version will be as good a game as possible.
